Study them carefully, especially the rule- breaker words, because we have a short week so we can celebrate Martin Luther King Day on Monday!

Our first list of spelling words in the new year have the long u sound. We will learn three rules for making that sound – who would guess that ew would make a long u sound! Pay extra attention to the rule -breaker words – they look like they have a long o sound, but they don’t!
